We are a grassroots organization dedicated to raising awareness, promoting public dialogue and working for positive change on peace, justice and democracy issues. Our members live in West Hartford and many other towns. We formed in 2003 to oppose the USA PATRIOT Act and the war in Iraq. The war and its consequences remain key issues.
We are best-known for our highly successful Town Hall Forums, in which experts speak on critical but controversial issues to audiences of 400 and more in the West Hartford Town Hall Auditorium. We also organize movie nights, workshops, seminars and demonstrations, and co-sponsor related efforts by other groups.
We are co-founders of Connecticut Opposes the War, a statewide coalition of legislators, unions, faith-based groups and other community organizations united in opposition to the Iraq war.
Our ranks include parents, teachers, students, blue and white collar professionals, business owners, labor activists, retirees and other concerned citizens. We welcome all who want to act locally to encourage U.S. domestic and foreign policies that promote democracy, justice and peace here and around the world.
